January - February 2010: Sweden

Welcome to the Sweden 2010 Scrapbook page!

For those of you that weren't out there with us it's a chance for you to see what you missed out on! For those who joined us, it's a chance to reminisce and re-visit what we're all already missing!

The Extreme Rally Winter Rally School kicked off in the middle of January 2010 in -29°C, the sun was shining and the conditions were perfect! Despite the alarming temperature the weather felt warmer than the rainy and damp UK!

We market this product as "probably the best driving experience in the world" and after the first driving session of the first day we had our group convinced! And so it continued with everybody else until our flight home.

Arriving at this huge lake in North Löten is a really exciting moment, the lake continues beyond the horizon and when the sun is shining it is one of the most beautiful scenes!

But the real excitement comes with the driving! Being a novice it can seem quite impossible, even for the most confident there are often a few butterflies on the first lap. However by the second lap you can see why this is such an incredible experience. The snow that is constantly falling around you is not ploughed to form the stages, as this would create big barriers either side of the track, capable of damaging both the car and your confidence, instead it is blown by the lakes owner, Roger, who works tirelessly to ensure our stages are never less than perfect. By blowing the snow there is only a few inches, at most, of powder lining the apexes of the corners, meaning if you do go off (as many do) you simply glide and stop suddenly. Once the realisation of this hits home, there is nothing to be scared of and by the second driving session everyone has their foot down, attempting to slide the car around the corner at ridiculous speeds! This is where the spectator's amusement begins as they watch the instructor's tallies mount up as their drivers once again drive them off the track and into the snow. As the days progressed we all returned to the staff cabin happy that every driver got something out of the day, without taking anything away from driving events in the UK you learn so much more on the ice, with no fear or obstacles, you can truly concentrate on acquiring real rallying skills!

We were very fortunate this year to have fantastic clients join us in Sweden, from complete novices to current competitive drivers out to hone in their already established driving skills. With so many different drivers all of different driving abilities we had great fun, from towing newcomers out of the snow after gliding for what seemed like a long time off the track, to testing our competitive drivers by bolting on tyres with even bigger studs to throw what we could at them to keep them on their toes. The driving experience alone has no competition, let alone the ice karting and snow mobiling experiences that so many of our clients made the most of!

We are already desperate for 2011 and after a fantastic year in 2010 making some fabulous new friends and having some amazing new adventures (including driving rally cars down Black ski runs! Click here for the videos) we hope you will join us in 2011 from January until March!
